The multi-faceted uses of crystal

For literally thousands of years the crystal has fascinated
people and been a source of beauty and perceived power. Yet
today, many people look at a crystal and just see a shiny
clear stone much like simple glass. The truth is that since
ancient times people have tried to discover not only the
natural, but the supernatural powers of crystal.
In ancient times, crystals were used in many different
ways. A crystal was believed to have healing power
People in that era believed that by putting crystals over
certain acupuncture points of the body that the crystal
aided in the flow of psychic and physical energies. Another
medical use for crystal in that era was believed to be for
diagnosing an illness. It is believed that an Emperor from
that time had a mirror-like stone of crystal that glowed on
both sides and lit up the bones of the body when a person
stood behind it. By having a patient stand in front of
this large crystal with their hand over their heart,
somehow, the stone was "activated", and the patient's inner
parts were clearly visible, which enabled the diagnosis of
an illness to be made.
The Hopis, an ancient and extremely advanced Native American
civilization also used crystals in medicine. The medicine
man would use the crystal to observe the centers of energy
in the body. If he discovered that the "flow" of this
energy was being slowed or inhibited then he would be able
to diagnose the cause of the illness and treat it
accordingly.
Crystal used in jewelry has a dual purpose. Not only is it
beautiful and diamond-like with its cut and shimmer, but it
is also thought by some to have healing properties. The
belief is that a stone with an even number of cuts creates
positive energy and a stone with an odd number of cuts can
have medical healing properties.
Technology also benefits from the properties of crystal.
Crystal can control and transmit telecommunication and radio
frequencies. It acts as both a resonator and an oscillator.
You can even get toy radio sets that use crystals in this
manner.
Today, researchers are continuing to explore the value and
multiple uses of crystal in technology. One use that may be
increasingly more valuable is the ability of crystal to turn
sunlight into energy and also store that energy. These
researchers will continue to experiment and discover even
more uses for this simple yet versatile stone.
As has been shown, crystal serves and has served a wide
range of uses dating back all the way from ancient times
to the present day. And as time goes on, it is quite
possible that more and more uses for crystal will be
realized, and maybe someday, put to modern use.
